History
The Art of Women's Health series originally launched in 1998 on public television distributed by American Public Television (APT) as 10 half-hour episodes. The series generated tremendous interest and outperformed expectations.
- Aired on 173 public television stations (representing 67% TV HH in U.S.)
- 98% of all airing stations committed and aired the series w/in first 6 months of release.
- All of the top 15 markets as ranked by Nielsen aired the series.
- In 1999 the series received a Gracie Allen Award from the American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) for BEST National Documentary Series. Past recipients of this award include Oprah, Sex in the City, Larry King Live, CBS News w/ Dan Rather, Bill Moyers, Tracy Ullman, et al.
This achievement coupled with strong market success, validated the series and ultimately paved the way for a second season with distribution via PBS Plus.
