Psoriasis: Coping with the Stigma
Nearly 7 million people in the United States have been diagnosed with the chronic skin disease, Psoriasis. Although the exact cause of Psoriasis is unknown, it is believed to be related to faulty signals sent by the body1s immune system. Generally appearing as patches of raised red skin covered by a flaky white buildup, psoriasis is not contagious but does have a genetic component that makes certain people more likely to develop it. It may also be triggered by external or environmental factors.
