Advanced Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is probably the disease women fear the most. However, there are new reasons for hope, particularly for those diagnosed with advanced breast cancer, where the disease has spread to other places in their bodies.
Treatments, especially those made available in the past few years, are helping women with advanced breast cancer live longer and fuller lives. Beyond the traditional therapies, there are next generation treatments that are making the cancer easier to live with and helping doctors more effectively fight the common side effects of cancer treatment.
In the meantime, clinical trials are helping researchers develop newer and more effective cancer drugs, and support groups are helping women cope with the breast cancer experience.
Watch The Cutting Edge Medical Report: Advanced Breast Cancer: New Reasons for Hope, a 30-minute TV documentary co-hosted by Larry Norton, M.D. of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. The show includes interviews with Amy Langer of the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations and Harold Harvey, M.D., of Pennsylvania State University Geisenger Health Systems.
This program is produced by Information Television Network and was made possible by an independent educational grant from Novartis Pharmaceuticals.
