Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Breaking the Secrecy Barrier
Boca Raton, FL -- Itšs not a subject that people like to talk about. Because it is such an embarrassing problem, some individuals keep it to themselves and donšt even discuss it with their doctors. Itšs not pleasant to have to plan onešs days around the location of the nearest restroom. Symptoms such as bloating, passing mucus or having the feeling of incomplete bowel emptying can make lives miserable.
Up to 20% of the population suffers from Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or IBS. Yet, when the discomfort finally drives them to see the doctor, often their symptoms are misdiagnosed because there are no obvious physical abnormalities. Studies show that there is a risk of unnecessary surgery as doctors struggle to diagnose the illness.
Sufferers of IBS are encouraged to overcome embarrassment and seek medical attention because this is a manageable illness with medications recently developed and new treatment regimens.
If you suffer from this distressing illness, or know someone who does, IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME: Breaking the Secrecy Barrier is a program you canšt miss. This informative, 30-minute TV special airs on The Health Network on Wednesday, March 21 at 10:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. ET, and will repeat several times this year.
IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME: Breaking the Secrecy Barrier is produced by Information Television Network (ITV) as part of the award-winning series, The Cutting Edge Medical Report, and is made possible by an educational grant from Novartis Pharmaceuticals.
