Sexual Health: The Facts, Future & Myths

Everything old is new again... and that includes prevailing societal opinions on sexuality. Not too long ago, being a virgin, or even in a sexually monogamous relationship, was considered to be "old fashioned." Now, conservative sexual behavior is being touted once again. This time, itıs not necessarily a value judgement, but an indication of viewing sexuality as part of overall health.

Today, the emphasis is on education. With knowledge comes the ability to make sound decisions which can impact an individualıs emotional and physical health.

Sexual Health: The Facts, Future & Myths is a 30-minute TV special created for FOX's The Health Network as part of the award winning The Cutting Edge Medical Report series. The show will provide the most current inforrmation available on two subjects of great importance in the field of sexual health: Genital Herpes, a condition that affects millions of adults in this country, and HPV, or human papilloma virus, the source for most cases of cervical cancer.

This in depth look at sexual health in the nineties will be presented by Michael Reitano, M.D., one of the foremost experts in sexual health research. Dr. Reitano will review common causes and symptoms, methods of transmission, and the newest and most successful treatments for genital herpes and HPV.

This program is produced in conjunction with Sexual Health Education, Inc. and is made possible by an unrestricted educational grant from 3M Pharmaceuticals, Glaxo Wellcome, SmithKline Beecham and SmithKline Beecham Consumer Healthcare.
