Uncontrollable Emotional Outbursts: Could This Be Happening to You?
This program will explore the little-known condition called pseudobulbar affect (PBA), or emotional lability. PBA is a neurological disorder that causes involuntary and unpredictable episodes of crying, laughing, or other emotional displays. It affects people with underlying neurologic conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, or even Alzheimer's disease. The program will discuss how to recognize the symptoms of PBA, and it will encourage patients to see if they could be suffering from this condition and talk to their physicians about ways to manage it.
